Great Tips on Ordering a Chesterfield Sofa

There is nothing like a Chesterfield sofa when it comes to adding style and elegance to your home. It’s a traditional, classic design. It can be an eye-catching piece of furniture in your room or it can simply blend in with the rest of your furnishings. For most homes, though, leather Chesterfield sofas are the highlight of the room. These are stunning pieces of furniture with excellent craftsmanship and design.

When choosing between the many styles of leather Chesterfield sofas, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, there is a tremendous selection of leather available for these sofas. You aren’t just limited to browns and blacks. Leather Chesterfield sofas can be found in virtually every shade in the rainbow. In addition, you may want to consider a leather patchwork sofa. These are becoming very popular nowadays and can really add something special to your home.

Second, you will have to wait about a month and a half to get your leather Chesterfield sofa. However, this is certainly a process you don’t want to rush. The workmanship that goes into bespoke furniture is truly amazing, but it does take some time. There are some shops that can finish your sofa faster if you so desire, but sometimes, it’s better just to wait. Keep this time frame in mind when you place your order.

The size of the leather Chesterfield sofa is also something you should consider. The most popular sizes are two and three seaters; however, when you have your sofa custom made, the sky is really the limit. In terms of pricing, you will find that these types of sofas are about the same as high quality leather sofas that you would find in your neighbourhood furniture store. The best thing is that you won’t be seeing your sofa in someone else’s home. It’s your unique personality and inspiration that goes into your new leather Chesterfield sofa.

Finally, if you are having problems deciding exactly what you want your new leather Chesterfield sofa to look like, you can talk with the designers at the bespoke Chesterfield Lounge shop. They will be able to answer all of your questions and give you some guidance, if you need it. Don’t be afraid to use their experience and knowledge. They want their customers satisfied so they will tell others about the gorgeous leather Chesterfield sofas they created! There’s no better marketing than a recommendation from a previous customer!

Merry Christmas – chesterfield armchair

merry xmas
chesterfield armchair and footstool in brown leather

Log fire burning, Christmas tree sparkling, presents stacked, the smell of warm cooking in the air and a glass of port in hand… Where better to be than sitting in a rich soft leather Chesterfield armchair, soaking up the Christmas songs and warming your feet by the fire. There is nowhere more warm and comfortable to be this Christmas Eve, I bet Father Christmas is jealous!

Modern Masculine Decor

I love black walls. People don’t paint walls black often enough. It is bold, strong and when done right can really transform a room. Black goes with everything so, in theory you could add any combination of colours or decors to a black backdrop but the danger is for the room to become to dark unless it is lifted with light accesories and lighter furniture.

Here we have a tan Chesterfield sofa sat against a black wall. The result is stunning. It is such a simple combination and yet the contrast is a perfect mix-match. It is a very masculine look, perfect for a batchelor pad or a gentleman’s office or study. Despite being a very classic piece of furniture, here, set against the black wall the Chesterfield looks modern and funky. A Chesterfield sofa will match almost any decor and immediately adds class and a touch of elegance to a room. Black wall + Tan leather Chesterfield sofa = Perfect masuline decor combination.

Beachfront Penthouse

The latest project that we have undertaken is a frontline beach penthouse in Marbella, Spain. Although not a vast property, it has been built with large proportions and its wide corridors, open plan layout, large windows and high ceilings give it a feeling of light and space.

We have decided to keep this airy feel by using a very neutral colour pallet and minimal decor, selecting only the finest pieces to compliment the rooms and allowing the space and the fabulous sea views to take centre stage.

We kept marble floors throughout the apartment and used rugs from vintage and antique markets in the bedrooms and one zebra skin in the living room. This animal feel gave a slight colonial theme to the room which we complimented with an old antique colonial coffee table and we sat it between two hand dyed leather Chesterfield sofas. We chose a worn leather to give the room that extra character, and the brown leather sofas complimented perfectly the antique pieces which we offset with lanterns and soft lighting.

In the corridor we chose a chesterfield chaise longue, again in worn brown leather and it is positioned Underneath a large wrought iron hung lantern.

In the study we chose a large antique mahogany desk, with all its original features and a traditional desk light in pride of precedence. Complementing that room we had commissioned two Delightful mahogany Chesterfield tub chairs, which we had made in a tan leather and were made to our specific requirements. For our desk chair we also commissioned a swivel Chesterfield chair, once again in mahogany and tan leather. The final result was slick and elegant but not without character.

All the Chesterfield furniture was from Chesterfield Lounge, our favourite supplier of genuine Chesterfield furniture.

Montrose Interiors

THE piece of furniture.

This week I’ve been looking into my very favourite pieces of furniture ever; The Chesterfield sofa.

It is timeless and ageless- well, it ages but if anything it becomes even more beautiful with age and a little wear and tear. It is such a classic and elegant piece of furniture and yet it lends itself effortlessly to any type of decor and can sit with ease and look perfect whether it is in a formal high brow library, or sitting battered and worn in a pretty children’s nursery.

Because of its simple …. design, it can compliment an ultra modern and minimal surrounding as well as offsetting a beautifully patterned or boho style surrounding. It may surprise some but I think of the Chesterfield as a very family-friendly piece of furniture. It is so strong, robust and the type of sofa the children can clamber on without worrying about either breaking the frames or dirty handprints. Real leather is so durable and any marks it gets tell a story and give it original character and thus make it a piece of furniture that people grow old with.

Personally I am a fan of the Chesterfield in leather; either tan or brown leather are my favourites but it has become increasingly popular in other materials such as velvet or linen. You can find many replica Chesterfields on the net and high street stores but these are not genuine and have neither the same quality nor even the true characteristics of the real thing- and I would certainly recommend paying the extra to get a genuine Chesterfield sofa.

You can find these by searching for vintage pieces (which are very expensive) or I would recommend Chesterfield Lounge, made in England who make real Chesterfields of exceptional quality (I have two from them!!!) Find their collection at www.chesterfieldlounge.co.uk

I have put together a selection of my favourite interiors with Chesterfield sofas and you can see for yourself the variety of decors and settings for this particular sofa. If you purchase one piece of quality furniture, let this be it!

Why a Chesterfield sofa?

With so much variety of furniture on the market from ultra modern to classic and traditional, from bargain buys to absolute extravagance, from super funky to plain and simple it’s difficult to know what to choose or where to begin. With Chesterfield you get a classic piece which is timeless, will never age nor go out of fashion and will always be the epitome of class and elegance.

So- What makes a Chesterfield sofa or chair different from any other?

Basic Characteristics

Look for the basic characteristics. We know that Chesterfield sofas are made from tufted leather with scrolled arms and brass-covered nails. You can easily tell if a chesterfield sofa is real by determining if it is hand-crafted.

Materials

You can try sitting on the sofa. A real chesterfield sofa will have a several layers of fine padding. They wrap them in horsehair. The use of horse hair for sofa padding has been around for centuries after being introduced in Germany by some innovative furniture makers. A real chesterfield sofa should be very soft and comfortable for seating.

The leather should be of top notch quality. The real chesterfield sofa is made from hides of aniline leather, which is immersed in a dye bath. Brown leather Chesterfield sofas are the most popular but Chesterfield sofas are being made increasingly in a large variety of colours including red and white. The manufacturers of knockoff chesterfield sofas use split hides or other artificial alternatives. The leather of a real chesterfield sofa will have colour in every part but will retain the natural flaws of leather, especially in the hand dyed leather process. You should not expect a true chesterfield sofa to be free from natural leather markings. The markings and unequal colours are actually a good sign that you are looking at a genuine chesterfield sofa. The sofa’s feet or legs will also tell if it is authentic or not. Normally, they are made from wood. A genuine chesterfield sofa will have feet that are shaped like buns. The material? Mahogany. You should also inspect the frames. They should be made from dried hard woods like birch and beech. You may also get some clues if they are hand-crafted or not. The real chesterfield sofa furniture has hand-carved frames.

Craftsmanship

You should also take a look at the details especially of the scrolled arms and rolled backs. The real chesterfield sofa will have a leather fold up to the tufted wells. There will be leather clad buttoning, too. The authentic ones will also have brass buttons and tacks that are well polished.

Check the said parts and features to ensure that you will be spending your money for a genuine chesterfield sofa. Whether you are looking for a classic furniture piece or a sturdy furniture item, you will certainly not be regretful of choosing a chesterfield sofa.
